Li Yuen Gee Dai or People of the Pear Garden is a term developed in the Ming Dynsasty for Opera performers.Emperor Chung of the Ming loved Opera. He built a garden filled with pear trees especially for the Opera performers. And since that time, the term has always refered to them. Yuen Kay Shan in his oral and written accounts refered to the Red Boat Generation as Li Yuen Gee Dai.
The term is synonamous with Hung Suen Gee Dai and King Fa Wui Goon.
