Wing Chun is not a style

There are no Kata in Wing Chun. There are no prescribed ways of dealing with an opponent or opponents. There are no choreographies of simulated fights or two men sets; (at least in most lineages) there is not even an official way to spar in Wing Chun!

What there are in Wing Chun are only a few vital and practical concepts about fighting and a great way (Chi-Sao) to put them in action if needed.

The forms of Wing Chun are few but they are highly practical as developers of these concepts. The Chi Sao exercise is great because it is allowing Wing Chun skill to grow naturally without relying on techniques that have to be memorised.

The concepts and the skill can be bended to some degree in real action. They were designed this way. Every Wing Chun motion can be found to have multiple uses depending on the situation and on the awareness of the practitioner.

There are no predetermined ways to react to an attack because there are no predetermined attacks in a real situation.

There is also no real pre-fighting stance or look to assume prior to an altercation.  Who has the time for this in real life?

Wing Chun is an art, not a style.
