Sifu Veljko Matoković was born on January 4, 1968 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, where he lived. He was a student of grandmaster Slavko Truntić, under whose guidance he received the title of master. He led the Kung-fu club "SHAN". He died tragically on May 23, 1999. A martial arts memorial named "Memorial Si-Fu Veljko Matoković" is being held in his honor.
On March 20, 1991, he joined the volunteer unit of students of the Faculty of Physical Culture of the University of Zagreb "MIG" and went through training with them at the Police Academy in Zagreb. After that, he went on assignments with the "MIG" unit: the blockade of the Borongaj barracks in Zagreb, the operation to conquer the barracks in Belajski Poljice (Logorište) near Duga Resa, and then he went to Pakrac and participated in the defense of the city of Pakrac. As a reserve employee of the ALFA PU Z Special Unit, he participates in the operation Poskok 1, Visočica.
