I was born in Malaysia and immigrated to Canada in 1980. I began to study the martial arts starting with Judo in University then Tae Kwon Do in 1983. I received my very first medals (3 Bronze) from General Choi Hong Ji (Founder of Modern Tae Kwon Do) in 1984.
My search for a better suited art was finally met when I began training Wing Chun Kung Fu with Master Sunny Tang (Dunn Wah) in 1986. My son Jordan was born in 1989 and I finally resumed my study with Grand Master Tang in 1997 who has been my mentor ever since. I am forever grateful to Master Tang for teaching me a truly invaluable art. I try to use its principles in all aspects of my everyday life. My life has been further enriched by my extended Kung Fu family. I have also been very fortunate to study some Shaolin Qin Na (the art of seizing and joint locking) with Dr. Yang Jwing Ming . As a female martial artist, I have found Ving Tsun to be a very effective system of self defense because of its simple and fast techniques that can counter a larger and stronger opponent by redirecting their energy.
